How Certification works...

There are several steps that must be followed when aiming to claim the FSC status for a piece of printing, the simplest option is to contact Jade and allow us to guide you through the steps required - we are the experts.

1. choose the printer
   The first step is to find a printer that is FSC certified and fully conversant with the Chain of Custody process. Rest assured, Jade is fully certified, however, if you're unsure about  eligibility, the printer must be able to provide you with a current copy of their own Chain of Custody Certificate – see our Links page for a copy of our Certificate.
2. choose the paper
   Be sure to opt for a paper stock that is FSC certified.
   Jade have a full list of the status of all FSC certified papers – either state the finish and weight of paper you wish to use and Jade will do the rest – or state the brand of paper you wish to use and Jade will be able to confirm the specific certification of that brand.
3. add the FSC logo
   Go to our Links page to download a low resolution version of the FSC logo for your project.
   Jade will replace it with the final version before going to print. There are several versions of each logo in colour, mono, landscape and portrait – see below for more information. The logo will be cross checked against the specific paper being used for your project and the correct logo inserted.
4. approval of the artwork and logo
   Once the final "Print" logo with certificate number and recycled content % (when applicable) is inserted, Jade will carry out an approval process to verify the correct logo is being used for this project. Many printers have to submit the artwork to their certifier for this stage – taking up to 24 hours. Due to our status with FSC, Jade has been awarded the status of Self Certification and therefore this process is carried out immediately, and in-house.
5. documentation
   You will receive the printed job with the correct logo for the specific paper that has been used, and the supporting delivery note and invoice will carry the required FSC statement to support the FSC claim being made.

Please remember - when you contact Jade, please state that you wish to the project to proceed and meet the FSC standards. Any project can be printed on an FSC certified paper, but unless the correct logo is used, and correct processes and paperwork is used – the job will not achieve the necessary standard.
